Subject overview
Business Studies is a well-established subject at Hampstead School and delivers a balance of courses across the ability range at KS4 and KS5. The department comprises of three full-time teachers with a variety of experience in Industry and delivering Enterprise initiatives.
We have an active and practical approach to teaching and learning, encouraging students to build a strong base of knowledge, understanding and skills. The department has developed working links with industry and local business and participates in an annual visit to Disneyland Paris for KS5 students, which encourages students to understand how a business operates on a large scale.
We promote links with the University business department
and are proud that so many of our students choose to progress
to business related degrees at university

| We presently offer two courses at KS4.
Business and Communications G.C.S.E. BTEC Business, Retail and Administration Students acquire technical and employability skills
through project work and hands-on experience of such
areas as finance, customer service, business administration
and retail. |
At KS5 we offer Applied Business AS/ A2 and BTEC First
Diploma.
Applied Business is both theoretical and practical and students will produce coursework and sit unit exams in such areas as marketing, finance, managing people, business planning. BTEC First Diploma is coursework based and students have the opportunity to experience ‘real-life’ situations to challenge and develop their skills and understanding of business generally. Students are encouraged in developing confident presentation
skills and have the opportunity to present their business
