On Tuesday 12 February, Home Office Minister, Meg Hillier MP, visited Hampstead School.
Ms Hillier was involved in the development of the Safer Schools Partnership initiative as part of her work at the Home Office. The Safer Schools Partnership is an initiative that aims to build good relationships and partnerships between young people and those involved in their care, keeping young people safe and supporting the local community.
As a London MP, Ms Hillier was interested to hear of the debate that the Hampstead School community had around the benefits of a Safer Schools Partnership Officer presence on the school site, and was pleased to lend her endorsement to the Governing Body decision reaffirming Hampstead School’s strong commitment to the Partnership.
PC Anna Lovell, Hampstead School’s Safer Schools Partnership Officer, will join after the half term break. PC Lovell has a considerable background in training, and was recently seconded to the Prince’s Trust for a year, working in a Sixth Form College. As well as being ‘out and about’ she will be looking to support students in Assemblies, Citizenship and PSHE classes.
Head Jacques Szemalikowski said: ‘The Safer Schools Partnership provides an excellent opportunity to extend our students’ experience as well as contributing to providing a safe and secure school community. Our aim is always to enhance opportunities for students and to provide a learning environment that allows our students to achieve their full potential. We look forward to welcoming Anna to our staff team.’
