Community Challenge

photoAll Year 12 students take part in a 15 hour programme of voluntary activities that we call Community Challenge. We find that most students continue long after the 15 hours ‘rule’ has passed. They often say that they have enjoyed giving others the benefits of their skills and time and learned more about themselves in the process. Here are some of the projects:

In school:

  • Supporting individual learning in lower school organise lower school sporting activities and competitions
  • Organising major events ( e.g. end of term revue/fashion show)
  • Buddying a younger student
  • Improving part of the school environment
  • Publicising and raising money for a good cause in school
  • Helping to set up a lower school society (Debating team, Chess club etc)

Outside of school:

  • Working for a charity
  • Campaigning for local issues
  • Helping out at a local community centre, youth club or primary school.
  • Volunteering at a hospital/residential home
  • Helping the Home School Association (HSA)
