Curriculum

Our aim at Hampstead school is to provide every student with a broad education that provides skills and knowledge and develops an understanding of the human experience, of the world about us, and of the values and standards that prepare them for adult life.

We have worked hard to design an outstanding curriculum which serves our students, both in terms of subjects and skills and also personal development.

At Hampstead School we a range of using interactive, practical lessons that are enjoyable and stimulating.

Years 7 - 9 (age 11-14) study the following subjects:

English, Mathematics, Science (balanced course), French or Spanish, Art, Dance, Drama, Music, Design and Technology, Humanities (in Year 7), History and Geography (as discrete subjects from Year 8), Physical Education, Tutorial Support (Self & Society:- Careers, Citizenship, Health and Environment and Religious Education).

Years 10 - 11 (age 14-16) study the following core subjects:

English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, Science (double award allowing all students options of going onto 'A' level Physics, Chemistry and Biology), Physical Education, Design Technology and Personal, Social, ICT, Health and Citizenship Education and Religious Studies.

They are also guided towards selecting subjects to create personalised pathways.

Expressive Arts (from Art, Creative and Media Production, Dance, Drama, Music, Music Technology and Sport).

Humanities (from Geography, History, Media Studies and Business).

Languages (from French and Spanish). Additional Heritage Languages are also offered.

Year 12 - 13 can choose from a selection of the following subjects' at AS and A Level:

Art, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Electronics, Design, Music, English, French, Spanish, Geography, History, Sociology, Mathematics, Further Maths, Theatre Studies, Media Studies, Government and Politics; Performing Arts, Business, Music Technology, Psychology, Information and Communication Technology.

BTEC Nationals in Performing Arts, Engineering and Health and Social Care and BTEC Firsts in Health and Social Care and Leisure and Tourism
