Year 11
Welcome to Year 11
This is an exciting time for Year 11 as they face many decisions regarding their future. In order for students to be able to have the most suitable pathway open to them we continue to have a consistent approach to behaviour and high expectations of academic performance. Students are expected to wear correct school uniform at all times, carry their planners with them for recording of home learning and to assist with communication between school and home.
We continue to instil a positive approach to learning in all lessons. We expect the students to demonstrate a level of maturity and model good behaviour across the school community. A greater level of independence is encouraged. We aim for 100% attendance and punctuality, but should school lessons be missed, it is our expectation that students will catch up on this work.
Year 11 will continue to receive home learning tasks; a copy of this timetable is available on the website for parents/carers to download. A programme of revision classes and Saturday lessons are also made available to support student study in the run up to the examination period. A full programme of extra curricular activities is on offer to develop other strands of learning and a wide range of skills. These include Debating (including MUN competitions), Film review club, Drama and Performance, Chess, a variety of Musical groups as well inter-school sports competitions.
Year 11 is hard work and for some, stressful, but with encouragement, commitment and open communication they will successfully achieve their goals.
The success and well being of students is central to the work of the Head of Year and the Year 11 team. Communication between them, students’ and their families is important to this.
Hampstead School offers many pathways and students are informed and guided towards making personalised choices for their progression in to Key Stage 5. Career interviews and preparation of CVs form part of the good practice in preparing students for interviews when applying for further education courses or work.
Year 11 is a very exciting year for all students. They need a combination of hard work, enthusiasm and determination to succeed alongside the support and guidance of the team who are there for them both academically and pastorally. We wish them every success.
