Subject overview
The science department consists of 15 teachers who specialise in Biology, Chemistry and Physics but teach all 3 to key stage 3. We have one part-time teaching assistant.
Each year the department celebrates the year with an extremely
successful science week, where Hampstead students and students
from our feeder schools can join in a range of activities.
| Key Stage 3 | Key Stage 4 | Key Stage 5 |
|---|---|---|
Students study a rotation of biology, chemistry and physics topics that allow students to develop their investigative skills. Preparing students for their SATs exams in year 9. We use Exploring Science coursebooks and provide
a student workbook for each student each year.
|
For KS4 students all study the OCR core science A specification which develops their understanding of how science works, including the ethics of science. Students have the option of taking separate GCSEs in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. |
We follow the Salters Nuffield Biology, Salters Chemistry, OCR Advancing Physics courses at AS and A-level. As well as A level Electronics and a Level 2 and Level 3 course in Health and Social care. |
