Extra-Curricular Activities
The school offers excellent extra-curricular
opportunities and has won awards for our curriculum extension
and summer school programme. Students are given the opportunity
to participate in additional societies for:
- sports
- science
- ICT
- poetry
- debating
- homework
- history
- mathematics
- music
The activities are designed to broaden and develop the mind and body. Students have regular opportunities to visit museums, exhibitions and theatres, as well as longer residential trips both within the UK and abroad. Hampstead School also has well-established links with schools in France, Spain, Norway, Belgium and Denmark.
The school holds competitive fixtures against other schools which take place after school in sports such as tennis, football, athletics, cricket and swimming. There is also the opportunity to take part in adventure sports such as camping, skiing, snow boarding and orienteering.
Extended Services in and Around Hampstead School
Extended Services (in and around Schools) are at the heart of the delivery of Every Child Matters, improving outcomes and raising standards of achievement for children and young people.
Hampstead School is committed to meeting the core offer of Extended Services. We are working with Camden Extended Services Team and other partners to offer access to a range of services and activities (for young people, their parents and carers and our community as a whole) which support and motivate our students to achieve their full potential. In fact, the Extended Services Coordinator for the Kilburn Priory area is based in our school!
It is not just about extending the school day, but about recognising that our students may need extra support which can be provided by a range of other professionals and services.
The core offer of extended services is designed to bring together and extend the wide range of different services that support children, young people and their families in Camden and help remove the barriers to learning and raise achievement. These services and activities are:
- A varied menu of activities (combined with childcare in primary schools)
- Swift and easy access to targeted and specialist services
- Parenting support
- Community access to school facilities
Hampstead is already providing a wealth of activities under each of these headings but has plans to provide access to more services by 2009.
