Hampstead School Newsletter

{item_alt_tag}

The above photograph is of the recent November snow by Ms Hearn.

As we near the end of the long Autumn term, I would like to thank you for your ongoing support; it is hugely appreciated. As parents and carers, you have been crucial to this term's successes: the launch of mobile phone pouches, our application for School of Sanctuary status, and strong performance in KS4 and KS5 mocks all provide great examples. You are fundamental to our work on good school attendance, which has seen us rise above local and national averages, and you do so much to help your fantastic children negotiate a challenging modern world. I know they might not always say thank you, so I thought I would!

Have a fantastic festive period and I wish you health and happiness in 2025.

- Matt Sadler, Head

Watch Hampstead School Take to the Stage: Take The Stage 2024 | Donmar Warehouse

Hampstead school have been incredibly lucky to take to the stage at the Donmar Warehouse! Take the Stage gives young people a chance to learn about theatre production and work with professional theatre-makers. This year, Year 10 went to see The Fear of 13 at the Donmar and after watching the production, the students worked with a professional director for 8 weeks. Through practical workshops, students investigate creative processes and themes, learning practical theatre-making skills and developing confidence, as both performers and individuals. We are so proud of the work the Year 10 Drama achieved.

Grimshaw Foundations Annual Art Lecture

Last Thursday evening, the A Level art class went to the Grimshaw Foundations annual art lecture with Hew Locke and Ekow Eshun. It was held at the Royal Institute of British Architecture and was an inspirational evening learning about how the famous sculptor who is currently exhibiting at the British museum creates his work and develops his ideas. After the lecture, we were lucky enough to talk to the president of the RIBA at the reception after the event.
