The past two weeks at school have been full of energy, opportunity and celebration, with students taking part in a wide range of events that highlight both their learning and the many possibilities ahead of them.
Last week we celebrated Careers Week, culminating in a fantastic whole-school Careers Fair on Thursday. We were delighted to welcome around 50 different organisations including universities, colleges and employers from a broad range of industries. Students had the chance to speak directly with professionals working in fields as varied as property and construction, engineering, the creative industries and performing arts, we even had a visit from the London Fire Brigade complete with their engine. It was an incredibly valuable experience, giving students the opportunity to ask questions, explore pathways and start thinking about the exciting futures that lie ahead.
On Friday we marked World Book Day, celebrating reading and storytelling. Our Year 7 students enjoyed a special visit from a guest author, Matt Killeen from Epic Tales, who spoke to the whole year group, followed by a series of storytelling workshops about the creative process and the power of books to inspire imagination.
Alongside these events, students have also been taking part in a number of educational trips and experiences. A group of Year 8 students attended a Green Careers Showcase in London Zoo, exploring future careers linked to sustainability and environmental innovation. Our KS3 Dance students attended the Camden Dance Festival. Our Year 10 Music students went to see a production of Les Miserables. Our A-level Media students also had the opportunity to visit the Roundhouse as part of their course, gaining valuable insight into the industry.
Back in school, our Year 11 Drama students are currently completing their practical examinations, and we are incredibly proud of the dedication and professionalism they have shown throughout the process. Year 11 Design & Technology students will also be taking part in their DT “Make Day” this Friday as they continue developing their coursework projects.
Looking ahead to next week, we are excited to welcome families to our Year 9 Choices Evening, supporting students as they begin the important process of selecting their GCSE subjects and planning the next stage of their educational journey.
