Hampstead School Newsletter

This week marks the beginning of the public examination window, and we want to take a moment to wish our Year 11 students, Year 12 Level 2 students and Year 13 students the very best of luck as they begin this important stage.

Public exams are always a significant milestone, and we know how much hard work, determination and resilience our students have shown in getting to this point. They have been supported every step of the way by their families, friends and teachers, and we are incredibly proud of the effort they have put in.

As they move through the coming weeks, we hope they remember that exams are one important part of their journey, but they do not capture the full measure of who they are: their kindness, creativity, courage, character, ambition and the many ways they contribute to our school community. We encourage them to stay calm, keep perspective, look after themselves and approach each exam with confidence.

To all our students beginning exams: we believe in you, we are proud of you, and we wish you every success.

- Tamsin Morrell, Assistant Head

Students! Have Your Say: The Big Future Survey

The Children’s Commissioner for England is inviting all children and young people aged 0–18 to take part in The Big Future survey, a national opportunity to share their views on childhood today, their concerns, and their hopes for the future. The survey helps ensure children’s voices are heard at the highest levels, especially as more young people prepare to vote for the first time. We encourage all pupils and families to take part by the deadline of Friday 23 October.

Notice from Attendance

Spring and summer are coming, and hayfever season is starting. Please make sure your child has the medicine they need and that it is up to date.

Hayfever can make children feel uncomfortable, but they should still come to school. With the right medicine, they can learn and join in with lessons.

If your child has a medical appointment, please tell the school as soon as you can. Try to book appointments outside school time if possible.

You must show proof of the appointment, for example a letter, card, or text message.

Usually, only one session (morning or afternoon) will be authorised for an appointment. If the appointment takes all day, you will need to show proof.

Thank you for helping your child come to school every day.

Hampstead Highlights

Celebrating Language Excellence at Hampstead School

We are delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Dana  (Y 11), who was recently awarded a trophy for her exceptional performance in Arabic speaking. We also wish to extend an Honourable Mention to Haya and Mohamad (Y10) for their impressive contributions and dedication to the craft.

These accomplishments reflect the vibrant language culture we take pride in nurturing at Hampstead School. This success is part of a wider movement championed by London: City of Languages, which emphasises the power of multilingualism in uniting communities. Our students were further supported by the Qatar Foundation International (QFI) Arabic Speaking Competition—a global platform that challenges learners to use their skills with creativity and real-world purpose.

At Hampstead School, we believe languages are a gateway to global citizenship. Dana, Haya, and Mohamad are powerful examples of what our students can achieve when passion meets purpose.

Congratulations to all our linguists—we are incredibly proud of you!

Student Voice in PSHE

On Friday 14th March we were delighted to welcome Camden PSHE Advisor, Patricia John-Baptiste, to our school for a Student Voice session focused on PSHE. During the visit, students had the opportunity to share their thoughts about their PSHE learning, what they value most about the subject, and the topics they feel are most important for young people today. Their responses showed real thoughtfulness and maturity, with pupils highlighting themes such as respect, healthy relationships, mental health, safety, bullying, and preparing for life beyond school.

Patricia praised the students for the way they engaged throughout the session, saying they were “absolutely lovely - vocal, thoughtful, and fully engaged in all the activities.” She also asked for her thanks to be passed on to them for their enthusiastic participation. It was a valuable opportunity to hear directly from our students and celebrate the positive impact of PSHE across the school.
