Hampstead School Newsletter

Eid Mubarak from everyone in the Hampstead School community! I hope that everyone celebrating this weekend has a fantastic time with family and friends.

We are aware that celebrations might run into Monday. We are able to authorise one day of absence for religious observance; if this applies to your child, please make sure to report via the StudyBugs app as normal.

Celebration will also be a theme in school next week as we reflect on the Spring Term and recognise the achievements of students in reward assemblies. Thank you for all of your support – you have helped make these achievements happen.

- Matt Sadler, Head

Affordable Art Fair - Years 7 to 9 Competition

We have so many wonderful artists at Hampstead School. We would like to encourage our KS3 students to enter this competition put on by Affordable Art Fair.

Affordable Art Fair is inviting local schools of Hampstead to look at our interaction with Hampstead Heath. They invite both primary and secondary school pupils from Reception up to Year 9 to create a piece of artwork titled Heath and Happiness. The winning entries and runners up will be exhibited at Affordable Art Fair, Hampstead taking place from 7 – 11 May on Hampstead Heath.

Brief: Create a piece of art centred around beautiful Hampstead Heath and the importance of well-being. We invite young artists to explore how nature, particularly Hampstead Heath, can inspire feelings of peace, happiness and mental well-being.

All entries must be 2 dimensional and no bigger than A4 in size.

We encourage the use of a variety of materials from paint and pastels to collage – be creative!

A photo of the entry must be submitted via this form link by the closing date 25 April 2025 and the physical artwork must be handed to your teacher to be brought to Affordable Art Fair.

On Tuesday 25 March, Year 10 music students enjoyed front row seats for an orchestral performance at the Barbican. As part of the LSO Discovery programme, students were guided through the story of Leonard Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story. They even learnt that the LSO have performed them on the very same stage, conducted by Leonard Bernstein himself. This was followed by a wonderful performance of the Dances which was incredible to see from such great seats!

Year 9 students from Hampstead School participated in the "My Future" project, where they devised a piece of theatre and performed it on a West End stage.

"My Future" is a new initiative for Key Stage 3 students that explores activism and theatre-making.

Eden said "It was inspiring to perform on the West End stage and to create a piece of theatre exploring consumerism".
