UCL East Saturday Club – Writing and Talking

About: UCL East Writing and Talking Club will hone your skills in both areas through a broad programme of exciting activities. Delivered by UCL experts and creative professionals, this fun and inclusive club will give you the chance to try out a wide range of forms of written and spoken expression. You’ll learn how to think creatively, work with others and express ideas through words, sounds, performance and more - try your hand at creative writing, journalism or debating. Learn about the language of the law, express yourself in poetry and performance and get inspired by writing and speech from different times and places.
The club is held weekly during term time, at UCL's Marshgate building on the Olympic Park in Stratford, London. You'll get to experience our campus in your sessions as you gain insights into some of the ways that writing and talking happen at UCL. The club runs 10:00–13:00 on Saturdays during term time. UCL Stepping Up Your Study Skills

About: UCL Stepping Up Your Study Skills is a 6-week online series for Year 11s designed to equip you with the tools you need to study more effectively, manage your wellbeing, and approach your GCSEs with confidence. You will also have the chance to connect with a UCL Student Ambassador who will be able to answer your questions and share their own tips and advice on effective study skills. Experience UCL
Topic: Higher education

About: Experience UCL is an exciting opportunity for prospective students to visit UCL and learn about life as an undergraduate. This activity is targeted at students from priority groups that are currently underrepresented in higher education and at UCL. Applications are currently open and will close at 10am on Wednesday 29 October. Please ensure you carefully read the information about the eligibility criteria for Experience UCL before applying. In the application form you will also be asked to provide the contact details of a teacher at your school or college who we will contact to verify that you meet the eligibility criteria for this activity. Please make sure you have spoken to your teacher about this before applying. Applications without a supporting teacher reference will not be considered complete.
The next series of Experience UCL events will take place between November 2025 and January 2026. Each event will run from 10:30 until 15:30 and will take place on the main UCL Bloomsbury campus in central London. You will spend the day in a small group with other young people and will be accompanied by two current UCL students, who will show you around the UCL campus and share insights into their university experiences. During the visit you will also have the opportunity to speak to members of UCL staff to seek advice and guidance on topics such as applying to university, the support services available and financial support. Experience UCL days will run on a weekday during UCL term time, meaning you may need to take time off from sixth form or college in order to attend.

GOSH Young Visitors Programme

About: The GOSH Young Visitors Programme is an initiative to offer short placements in the different areas of GOSH to students thinking of applying for a career in the NHS. It offers 1-5 day placements in the area of the student’s choice, dependent upon availability of places and supervising staff. The Winter Cohort runs from 16th February – 20th February 2026, with applications opening on the 10th of November 2025 at 9am, and closing at 3pm on the 21st of November 2025. WOHAA Achievement Award
Topic: Leadership/Fundraising
Deadline: 30th November 2025
Years: Students aged 13 – 18 years old (or Years 9 – 13)
About: Students get into groups of up to six and over a few months conduct their own fundraising projects and awareness campaigns all in the name of charity and education. Each WOHAA team is assigned a mentor, who through regular check-ins and meetings, and can support and guide the students through their projects. Along the way, WOHAA participants get free access to workshops, mentoring and masterclasses, by some of the Wings of Hope’s many supporting businesses, ambassadors, and university partners. Once students submit their “Snapshots” projects to the charity, it is assessed against areas of skills including project management, community service, creativity and more.
Short-listed students get invited to present their work to a panel of leading judges at Westminster. Judges including luminaries from politics, business, entertainment, sport, the arts and education. The Finals are a celebration of the incredible work that WOHAA students have put into their projects, where an awards ceremony will announce the winners of various categories, before announcing the overall winners.

UCL Target Medicine Mentor Scheme 2026

About: The Target Medicine Mentoring Scheme (TMMS) is a year-long programme for Year 12 students in and around Greater London from underrepresented backgrounds with the potential and desire to go to medical school. Successful applicants will be paired with a current UCL Medical Student who will act as their mentor for an entire calendar year, from January to December 2026. The programme is made up of seven face-to-face mentoring sessions, regular contact with your mentor using the Brightside online mentoring platform, and a series of additional information, advice and guidance events.
